Synthetic Marijuana

The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) has labeled five chemicals (used to produce synthetic marijuana) as Schedule I drugs, effective 1 March 2011, for one year.  The DEA and US Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) will be conducting studies to determine if the restriction should be made permanent.

The street name for those drugs are "Spice,” “K2,” “Blaze,” and “Red X Dawn” and are labeled as herbal incense.  The use of these drugs is prohibited by the Unites States Air Force and Air Force Reserves.  Testing for those chemicals will be done by urinalysis testing and members who are positive will be process as if the member has used marijuana.
